Free Public Training

One of the things that Olympic Softworks is chartered to do is provide training to the public on how to use computers, and specifically how to use computers running GNU/Linux. To that end we are once again trying to set up first bi-monthly, then weekly meetings. These will be free for the general public to attend, and as we have done in the past; will be driven by topics that are selected to be of some use to those attending, and by questions that will be fielded on the spot as much as possible.

Currently it is looking like the main branch of the Olympia Library will be our first monthly or bi-monthly meeting place.

Also, although the South Sound Senior Services has not actually said "no" to renewing our weekly classes with them, they have so far simply not responded. If you are a Senior Citizen and would like to attend a free class on how to do things like email, sending pictures, writing letters, and other things commonly done with a computer then please get in touch with Chris, the activities director at SSSS, and ask him to get in touch with me.

Meetings

I'm interested in attending meetings. Ubuntu is what I use.

Would it be useful for me to call Chris an ask if he knew of any meetings about any or all of the subjects I am interested in learning about?

I don't have a laptop. Will that prevent me from getting full value from the meetings?
